Fire

Update from DNR (Aug 31):

As a result of the recent rain we have received and the overall reduction in the fire hazard (or wildfire risk) across the province, we are now in a position to further reduce the current fire related restrictions on the forest industry. Effective immediately, the Temporary Work Permits issued to private land forestry operators through the district offices are no longer required and hereby cancelled.

All Work Permits issued to private land forestry operators for the 2025 fire season that were revoked on August 10th are effectively reinstated replacing the Temporary Work Permits effective 12:01 a.m. Monday.  In the situation where the location (PID) of the temporary work permit differs to the reinstated work permit, the temporary work permit is still valid until a new work permit is obtained. These Work Permits are required under section 15(1) of the Forest Fires Act from third Monday in April until October 31st.  Requirements are listed within General Regulation (84-204) – Forest Fires Act for Industrial Operations apply, and for your reference, the “Fire Equipment Requirements for Industrial Operations”, as per the Forest Fires Act, is linked.

Contact your local office of the Department of Natural Resources, or call 1-833-301-0334, should you have questions.
