Climate Change Outreach Coordinator

Who we are: 

The New Brunswick Federation of Woodlot Owners exists to be a place of unification for those who care about the positive future of forest resource management in the province of NB.   We are a member-based, not-for-profit organization which promotes the social and economic interests of private woodlot owners in New Brunswick through a united voice. Any person, company or organization is eligible to be a member of the NBFWO.  

 

Who we are looking for:  

We are looking for an outgoing, bilingual forestry professional to be our new full-time Climate Change Outreach Coordinator. This position is a 9-month term, with the possibility of permanent employment. The Climate Change Outreach Coordinator will be a climate change champion, in charge of woodlot owner engagement through our ‘Climate Smart Woodlot Management’ project, funded through the NB Environmental Trust Fund. 

 

As the Climate Change Outreach Coordinator, you will have the opportunity to: 

  • Create a guide and web resources for woodlot owners,

  • Connect with other groups, institutions, and government departments to increase the resource list,

  • Conduct demonstration site updates/data collection,

  • Update the case studies on the website,

  • Create a climate change resource webpage,

  • Plan, advertise and host a series of 1-day workshops throughout the province.

 

You will need to have the following:

  • Fluency in both English and French.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and an ability to build relationships with potential and existing members, and other stakeholders. 

  • Research skills as well as practical in-field data collection experience.

  • A proven ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously. 

  • The ability to think creatively when planning and managing events.

  • Previous experience in a not-for-profit would be an asset.

  • Dependability - can be counted on to meet commitments and responsibilities.

  • Willing to work evenings and weekends when required.

  • Access to a reliable car and a valid driver's license.

 

What we offer:

  • A combination of remote and in-person work.

  • Pay is $21.62 / hr, for 37.5 hrs a week.
